MIKE’S WINE NOTES:
Mike Davies – Wine Maker – Founder Greenskin Wine
Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon are two varieties that have been blended in their traditional home of Bordeaux for hundreds of years. Sauvignon Blanc’s light body but pungent bouquet needs the mouth-filling body and honeyed tones of Semillon to provide another dimension and texture to what otherwise can be a bit boring.
Our first offering of this wine style is 59% Sauvignon Blanc and 41% Semillon grown on Cowaramup Estate Vineyard and was made by Bruce Dukes & Remi Guise at Naturaliste Vintners. While working with these two grand varieties, they have made a thoroughly modern wine with a focus on capturing the pureness of their fruit characteristics while applying some subtle winemaking tweaks to ensure the wine is balanced, zingingly fresh and tasty.
- Colour – Pale straw with light green edges.
- Bouquet – lifted floral, lime, green apple & pear.
- Palate – Full of juicy fresh lime & green pear laced with tropical passion fruit tones.

Pale colour. Fresh lemon curd, tropical fruit herb garden aromas with noticeable lifted SO2 notes. Well concentrated minerally with lemon curd, tropical fruits, grassy flavours, fine chalky textures, attractive mid-palate volume and fresh crispy mineral length. Ready to drink but fine to keep for a while. 13.2% alc

This is such an awesome idea – I bought a 6 pack of the SBS as a trial in my search for the ultimate “field wine” to take camping, hiking, bikepacking, or kayaking. The search has now ended with Greenskin’s SBS. I particularly love how convenient it is to recycle the packages through REDCycle. Well done – I just hope you have enough stock as I am known to enjoy a wine or three!
